Orsa Municipality in Dalarna County is located at the outlet of the Ore River in Lake Orsasjön in the northern part of Siljansbygden and physically geographically in northern terrain. Due to the unlikely event that a meteorite struck this northern terrain, a ring of soft and calcareous rocks has formed, called the Siljan Ring. Along the lime ring, a densified peasant village has developed since the early Middle Ages. Outside the lime ring grows coniferous forest.

In Orsa, nature is always accessible and visible, whether you are looking for the tranquility and tranquility of the untouched wilderness or if you are looking for exciting and active experiences.
Orsa has one foot in history and one in the future. Here is a cultural area with a special feeling and spirit. Here are houses that tell our story and new sustainable accommodation that stands out. In 1901, large parts of the old Orsa center were destroyed by a fire. In connection with the reconstruction, a new downtown building grew up next to the railway that had opened to traffic ten years earlier, including the station building and the stately railway hotel.
In Orsa there is also popular Orsa camping, which started back in 1932, with its kilometer-long sandy beach next to Lake Orsasjön. Through Orsa runs the Inlandsbanan and European route 45.
